Red Bull Local Hero Tour 2015

I've heard a great deal about the Al Aali mall stairs and this past weekend, Red Bull brought back skateboarding to Al Aali mall, they added a few jumps, rails and along with that came a smile on every skater's face.

This was the second time that the Local Hero Tour has come to the island and it came back with all the hype as Red Bull pro skater Jan Hoffman was in town shredding with the local skaters on the first day and judging the competition on the second.

Jan Hoffman

The competition started in full swing as the skaters showed off their skill by landing some insane tricks to judge, Jan Hoffman. When it came to the final round with the last three skaters left, it seemed like a difficult decision for Jan as the finalists were landing trick after trick, but it was local skater Ahmed Haji a.k.a BAM who went big in the final round and took the win.

I wish I could describe the event better but I'll let my photos do the talking.

Red Bull Kite The Waj 2015

Red Bull Kite the Waj came back to the island for the second time, Kite the Waj is an amateur kitesurfing competition held at the Amwaj Islands, where amateur teams from around the GCC can come and compete for the top spot. This year, local kitesurfers Jeremy and Algo handed the rest of the teams the defeat as they were announced winners on the third day of the event. Coming in at second were Rashed & Rashed from Dubai and in third place were Bahraini kiters Mohanna and Mohammed Housni.

Also on the island was world class pro kitesurfer Ruben Lenten who's judged this competition twice in a row along with nineteen-year old Karim Shawky from Egypt who had judged his first competition at Kite The Waj. The two judges chilled with the kitesurfers and spectators during the three-day event, sharing the waters with kitesurfers present on the days.

Red Bull BC One Bahrain Cypher 2015

What a night it was! Sixteen b-boys entered, one left as the Bahrain BC One champ.
On Friday night (1 May, 2015) The Red Bull BC One Bahrain Cypher 2015 was held at Malja located in Amwaj Islands; The outdoors area was the perfect venue to host this year's Red Bull BC One Cypher. By 8PM the venue was packed as the cypher kicked off. The sixteen B-boys battled hard until there were two B-boys left; Last year's (2014) winner B-boy Twist & 2013 winner B-boy Huey. This was a final you did not want to miss as both of the finalists did not fail to impress the three judges (B-boy Ronnie, B-boy Keyz & B-boy Nabil). But it was B-boy Huey who won over the judges decision and handed B-boy Twist the defeat. B-boy Huey will now go on to represent Bahrain in the Red Bull BC One Middle East & Africa finals in Tunisia.

Here are some pictures from the night. (All photos taken by me)
